What are Campus Girl Scouts?

What are Campus Girl Scouts?

Campus Girl Scouts (CGS) was first established in 1920 to support groups of college students who wanted to make an impact on their community through Girl Scouting. Campus Girl Scouts have many diverse roles in Girl Scouting based on their group’s goals and their Girl Scout Council. Campus Girl Scouts have served many purposes in Girl Scouting including being role models, planning events, leading troops, and bringing younger voices into their local councils. Campus Girl Scouts is an organization based around community service, leadership, and Girl Scouting.

Why should YOU join Campus Girl Scouts?

It helps you…
DISCOVER new places and people in your community
CONNECT with other students on your college campus
TAKE ACTION in your community and change a girl’s life forever
which will help you develop
LEADERSHIP skills that will last a lifetime!!

Who can join Campus Girl Scouts?

Campus Girl Scouts is open to college students, 18 years and older, who are registered at a university, college, institute, or community college that prepares students for 2 or 4-year degrees. Campus Girl Scouts are not required to have been previously registered as a Girl Scout and because the members are adult Girl Scouts, men are welcome to join. Each chapter or council can establish its own rules for becoming a Campus Girl Scout, but the following items are two base rules required for all Campus Girl Scout members:
• Members are willing to nationally register as a Girl Scout.
• Members are willing to uphold the ideas and standards of the Girl Scout Law.

What do Campus Girl Scouts do?

Campus Girl Scouts do anything you can think of: volunteer at council sponsored events, serve as troop leaders in their community, volunteer as trainers within their council, plan and facilitate events for girls of all age levels, put together statewide events for Girl Scouts, recruit college students to volunteer with Girl Scouts, and much more. Campus Girl Scouts are adult volunteers organized in a social network to utilize campus opportunities and make lifelong friends while in school.
